Jocelyn Conwell

I consider myself  a product of the now Cleveland Municipal School System, graduating from John Adams High School, shortly thereafter, I began my undergraduate studies at the now Baldwin-Wallace University, where I attained  two (2) Bachelor degrees. Shortly thereafter, I then enrolled in the now Cleveland State University College of Law, from whence I received my Juris Doctorate in Law.

I began my lengthy history of public service, just prior to completing my undergraduate 

studies, as an “Intern” in the Cuyahoga  County Juvenile Probation Department.

 

Afterwards, began working part time, in the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center, shortly thereafter, began a seven (7) year stint as a Juvenile Probation Officer, while continuing to work simultaneously, part time, as a Detention Center worker.

 

Shortly after admission to the Ohio Bar, I was hired by former Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Stephanie Tubbs Jones, as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, and subsequent Prosecutor, William D. Mason, for approximately 9.5 years, in both Support Enforcement Units (Juvenile and Domestic Relations), the Juvenile Delinquency, and General Felony units. 

 

After my resignation, I then expanded a once “moon light” solo law practice, into a full time “general” law practice, which has been in existence for slightly over twenty (20) years. I have in addition, served as court appointed counsel (in the felony division of our Cuyahoga County Court), representing individuals who otherwise are unable to afford legal representation. I further, (again simultaneously) have been a former part time Acting Judge for the city of South Euclid, which entailed rendering decisions involving a variety of misdemeanor offenses, as well as Housing court matters.

 

I have further, been an Assistant Prosecutor and now part time Public Defender for the city of East Cleveland. In sum total, my experience as a licensed attorney, “spans” over 33 Years !   

 

My roots as an “ACTIVE” Democrat run deep. They range from offering my services voluntarily, in numerous GOTV efforts, dating back to “Operation Big Vote”, being a former Democratic Precinct and Executive committee person, to being a former Democratic Election Protection Attorney, both preceding and during both Presidential Elections for former President, Barack Obama!  Not to minimize my volunteer participation in the successful effort to defeat Senate Bill 5! 

 

I now seek to be elected Judge as the CULMINATION of my numerous years of hard work and dedication towards the ultimate goal , ie,  my  personal  “ passion for righting wrongs”  !  I  consider my history as one of a “Cleveland Manufactured Trench Fighter”,  which distinguishes me from all of my opponents, my diversified years of experience, serving the residents of Cleveland, as provided herein, has prepared me with a 

diversified perspective to serve the residents of the city of Cleveland, with respect, insight, integrity and compassion, which will enable me to administer firm but fair justice for all.

 

I now submit this, my official “resume”, and ask for your vote in the General Election, on November 7, 2023.
